Art of Lying: The Essence of Hindu Philosophy

July 8, 2011

Those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit attrocities.  – Voltaire

Khurshed Batliwala’s video about Technology of Spirituality is not something unique or path breaking but it definitely comes in a package that kindles the sentiments with its astute approach.   It would create a frenzy among the newly globalised, highly suave and increasingly nostalgic Indian.  Both resident and non-resident Indians are starting to lose the vibe of Indianess.  The vibe of superiority enshrined by birth has suffered a major dent and are desperate to show the world that they are not just a bunch of white collared workers.   In their desperation they are giving credence to any gibberish which would not only sound scientific but also help revive their lost pride.

This is where people like Khurshed fill in with their educational qualifications as springboards and their manipulative ideas as paraphernalia for approbation among the ‘educated masses’.  Khurshed and their ilk are savvy enough to gauge the sycophancy of their fellow hindus.  So they mash up their ideas with science, history and copious amounts of hindu fairy tales.  These aren’t mere lies but a constructed notion against the indigenous people to distort their history and their contributions.   In the video Khurshed odiously compares the tribals with the brahmans.  The truth is that the tribals have always been more compassionate and productive than the brahmans or any other caste for that matter.  Even if we were to hypothetically accept whatever he is saying where did it all go without a trace.

Khurshed claims zinc was extracted thousands of years ago before the Europeans stole the idea via the Chinese.  If it was thousands of years old it could have been anyone but the point is if they could extract using their spiritual or yogic abilities why couldn’t they extract pure zinc. The reason being the technology or the knowledge at that stage was limited or to tell the truth no one knew that it was zinc (chemically speaking).  As science and technology progressed and when the actual need/want for zinc was realised pure zinc was extracted, not by any tantric but by a person who intended to do it by real scientific means.

Then he jumps to astronomy/ancient history rambling about varaha avatar, jestha and arundhati stars.  Varaha avatar being referenced to state the fact that the earth is round (in reality it’s spherically flat) is a stupefying statement.  Even if it were true what was the point of discovering or knowing that the earth was round and coming up with a wild story which doesn’t serve any purpose.  When did a boar taking the earth into the ocean become part of history? Those claims about jestha and arundhati are akin to sticking-the-tail game.  Here Khurshed is sticking it with his eyes open as astronomers have already with advent of time and lot of effort established it with scientific methods and empirical evidence.

Then he mentions a sloka about Krishna which is apparently encrypted.  An encryption of the mathematical constant Pi, of all the pressing things in this whole wide world.    Why should that mathematical constant be encrypted and why should anyone care even if it was.  The consistent thing about these are that nothing is straight forward and can be encrypted/decrypted at will.

Soon another Batliwala-alike would come along and say that the iPhone was conceived by Vishvamitra and some dude named Ashasravacharya wrote it in a scroll but the guys at Apple stole it and the ‘educated’ Indian would cheer for that as well.  Welcome to brahmanical philosophy where even the gods are controlled by the mantras then why not claim iPhone to be their invention. The brahmanical mindset of claiming credit to every accomplishment in this world is getting ludicrous by the day.

These are the same people with their metaphysical approach succeeded in creating a hegemonic social order so rigid that it reverberates in every aspect until this day.  This hegemonic order has even taken scientific dimensions and is being questioned in the ever changing socio-political environment.  The need to justify its relevance has risen and it can no way be justified in the current climate as it has become defunct.  So they take the ‘time machine’ and travel back to previous millenniums scouring for anything that can be conjured up with any established fact.

Behind this facade lies the message ‘bring back the good old days’ and the ‘good old days’ that they want to take us back had caste segregation, untouchability, enslavement of women and numerous other social evils as a way of life.  These devious intelligentsias are feeling the heat and are increasingly paranoid of losing their undeserved prominence.  So like always they have started concocting fables and sowing them as facts in young minds.  The brahmanical drivel which for long has controlled the past thereby controlling the present is losing the battle waged to reclaim the past that rightfully belongs to millions of indigenous people of this vast land.

The neo-brahministic class, an offshoot of globalisation is being targeted. The neo-brahmins in their avarice and gullibility are digesting it with no forethought.  These trolls like Batliwala should be resisted from manipulating the people to submit to their wanton ways, the ways which created the despicable caste system discriminating fellow human beings in the most inconceivable manner known to man.

  1. Look at his opening story on Varaha Avatar. The picture of Varaha shown is from recent past and not from the ‘Ancient’ times as he claims. In temple sculptures Varaha is depicted as holding the ‘Earth Goddess’ in the form of a female and not as a globe. In recent times the ‘Earth goddess’ was replaced by a globe in all the pictures of Varaha. Even if Indians knew 10000 years ago that the earth is a globe they never depicted so in the Varaha sculptures. He is just using the picture of recent times to mislead the so called ‘educated’ masses. Likewise his other stories can be disputed. But I think the mindless ‘educated’ class resists any analytic thinking and wants to believe such falsehood.

this totally debunks Batliwala. nice one SK

//But I think the mindless ‘educated’ class resists any analytic thinking and wants to believe such falsehood.//

      cant agree more.

  2. The concern is valid but you are making a few sweeping statements.

    Anyway,
    1. You have an image of Adi Sankara in the background, but have you read his works before judging him ? Can you mention what portion of his philosophy you found “lying” ?

    2. When do you plan to comment on Paul Dinakaran and Zakir Naik ?

3.The brahmanical drivel which for long has controlled the past thereby controlling the present is losing the battle waged to reclaim the past that rightfully belongs to millions of indigenous people of this vast land.
–> do you have any scientific paper proving that brahmins are not indigeneous.

    4. How about linking Srilankan massacres to Buddhism and criticising Ambedkar for embracing Buddism ?

    Cheers
    Thamizh Socrates

    • 1) Adi sankara’s philosophy of athma and the premise that brahmans are the chosen people is a lie. If not prove it scientifically

      2) When you plan to accept that this brahmanical philosophy is nothing but a farce.

      3) .Brahmans are a group of people who until now are totally disconnected from the society. Why do they practice exclusiveness?(this applies to other castes as well). You are asking for scientific papers but you do not even use your common sense when it comes to stuff told by Batliwalas.

      4) Buddhism didnt kill but nationalism did. Hinduism/Brahmanism sanctioned inequality but Buddha fought against it. Thats the reason why Ambedkar embraced Buddhism. Buddhism is an equal and opposite entity of Hinduism..

      • You insolent retard, Brahman which Adi Shankara talks about is NOT the caste or varna, but it is the soul, a manifestation of the supreme morphogenic consciousness field that is Bramhan. Get educated before spewing ignorant filth, you blithering buffoon!

  3. All the stories in Puarans are just symbolic. They are not supposed to be taken literally. Dashavtaar is a symbolic story of evolution. Varah lifts the earth from the ocean that means this avtaar is a symbol of first terrestrial life.

  4. Have you studied anything about hinduism? Just writing the opposite of someone’s article or teaching doesn’t make you an expert on the subject. And making sweeping statements like essence of Hinduism is lying shows how ignorant you are.

    • to understand the blog better you will have to watch the videos by this Batliwala guy .. and please for it’s own sake keep hinduism limited to whatever it is, don’t mess up with science and history …

      • Read Bhagavatham and then say, if Indian Scriptures are experts on Science or not! Study before you comment…

  5. Here’s a video debunking his claims http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSHFzZmQPj0

  6. Instead of questioning his statements, try to understand his motives. He just wants us to be proud of our glorious past which was destroyed by the Mughal and British invasions of India. They made us follow their lifestyle due to which we criticize our own country like the rest of the world does. Caste system was a rational system unlike the apartheid (an illogical color based segregation system) which was prevalent in the so called developed countries. Ancient Indians had the knowledge that a learned person will surely beget a son who will inherit the same DNA as his learned father and hence the caste system was created and this proves that the science and technology which the western world boasts of today is for long had been studied and implemented by our saints and seers. The only thing that went wrong was that people of different caste were not allowed to switch their professions that may be because they wanted everyone to maintain their expertise in whatever they were doing.
Dear writer you have been misled by the notions which has been created in your mind by the western media and the education you have been receiving. Vedas were written 3000-4000 years ago when even the Gods of these western Christ loving or Mohammedan Empires were not born. So please try to be a Hindu and I am sure you will never question its legacy.

  7. there is controversy about adishankaracharya living period and vascodagama wrote in his book and it was found in spain . abt earth it was clearly explained so many 5000 yrs back.te main themes we have to understand is indians were most advanced in science and civilization

    • //te main themes we have to understand is indians were most advanced in science and civilization//

      Getting real desperate pusshaan.

  8. Bhagavatham mentions Earth as ‘Bhoogolam’ which means the spherical shape of Earth! Why deny the true credit to Indian Scriptures?

    • Come on!! Is that the best your gods can do? Supreme divine knowledge to state the Earth is spherical (not categorically either). You guys are funny.

      • Dei..loosu payale mr.”theanarchyfix”… the word “bhoogolam” was/is used by indians from more than 5000 years back. we have a proof for that in many indian temples.. (of south & north indian temples).. indians were that much brillient in BCE periods..indians were masters in astronamy, maths, science, veda, medicine, political science master chanakya,..etc…
Only Mugals/turkeys/british totally destroyed our oldest university (like nalanda univ)… in BCE times.. they people created virtual image of western in oldest indian education sysytem to spoil our education system… you junk!!!.
come here,,we will hit you in face..

you can realize when you visit oldest temples in south india or north india..visit tamilnadu or bheemtakha in madhya pradesh rock/cave paintings atleast…

Jai hind…valga tamil.. valarga the great democratic india…

      • Thanks for your civilised comment yesindia1983. The same can be heard from the Greeks, Italians, Egyptians, Mayans, Incas, Chinese and so on with better evidence. Shout what you want but your ramblings wont sell anymore. Brahmanism/Hinduism stole ideas and inventions from Buddhist and Jain ideologies and claimed it to be their own. Brahmanism/Hinduism denied human rights to a vast majority of the people (like the way you do here with comments like ‘come here,,we will hit you in face..’) and that is the reason why it was toppled easily. So please keep your regressive thoughts within agragarams who would appreciate these fallacies of yours.

  9. Why do you hate brahmins so much? I agree the brahmins had a bad history (in fact the upper caste people and even the lower caste people treated the Dalits badly. Remember how Dr. Ambedkar was denied a hair cut as a child). Was it not a Brahmin teacher who supported Babasaheb and gave him the surname? In Karnataka, it was Basavanna who fought the caste system and rejected it in 12 century. He was born in a brahmin family. Please do not paint everyone in the same color. Do you also hate people who are born in a family of Brahmins just because of their roots even if they are rationals? And again fallacies and myths are not limited to Hinduism. It exists in all religions alike.

    • //Why do you hate brahmins so much? //

We didnt or dont hate ‘brahmins’. Please provide example.

//I agree the brahmins had a bad history (in fact the upper caste people and even the lower caste people treated the Dalits badly. Please do not paint everyone in the same color.//

Brahminisim in any form is despicable and the people you mentioned demonstrated that by treating people with equality. Any form of casteism has its roots in brahmanical philosophy and so we cant differentiate it with lower, middle or upper caste. If someone claims to be a ‘brahmin’ then that is deplorable. Our fight is against the brahmanical idea that people are unequal by birth. And since you’ve mentioned Ambedkar can you please care to read some of his books especially this one http://tinyurl.com/2g4slsn to better understand what we are talking about. We never painted everyone in the same colour and if we did please substantiate further.

//Do you also hate people who are born in a family of Brahmins just because of their roots even if they are rationals?//

A true rationalist cant be a brahmin and a person claiming to be a true brahmin can never be a rationalist. If you claim so then it completely contradicts the global understanding of that word. But there can always be a semi-rationalist or semi-brahmin which is the case with most of the brahmins today.

//And again fallacies and myths are not limited to Hinduism. It exists in all religions alike.//

      So?

On the whole nothing written in this blog was addressed in your comment. Just a random blurt in support of brahmins which is so typical of your ilk.

      enjoy this quote:

“Rational arguments don’t usually work on religious people. Otherwise there would be no religious people.” – Gregory House, M.D. Season 4 Episode 2 The Right Stuff.

  10. In Sanathana Dharma, the Vedic scriptures earth is referred to as ‘Bhoogolah’ ‘Bhoo’ means ‘Earth’ in Sanskrit and ‘Golah’ means which is ’round’ or ‘spherical’ and the study of earth i.e. Geology was called ‘Bhaugolika Shaastra’
Vedic science is purely axiomatic i.e. in this context no one needs to prove that earth is round . It is clearly evident from the word Bhoogolah that earth was indeed round.
But Western science is purely experimental and proofs are required to establish a scientific fact.
    – M Narasimha Vardhan, Aerospace Engineering, SASTRA University.

    • //But Western science is purely experimental and proofs are required to establish a scientific fact.//

      **Edit**
Science is purely experimental and proofs are required to establish a scientific fact.
      Period.

      • the time of Vedic period when rest of other religions asserted, brainwashed and punished if you don’t bhelive earth as flat. DanathaDharma eloquently used BhuGolah but didn’t penalize any if you don’t believe. That’s at abstract top level view how Dhrama vs other religions stand.

Now coming to experiment, each has a degree of variance or allowed error/%. And Goal Earth stands far less error than Flat Earth by any standards or any timelines.

  11. yes, we do represent earth as ‘mother’ a women and as god so is WomenGod that don’t mean that we don’t see it in any other form.
as explained above by Narshima Varadarajan, the very word in sanksrith to refer earth is bhuGOAL (Goal=spherical) :).

We treat India as mother India too and when paki, bangladesh cut we treat as its hand cut off. that don’t mean that we do not acknowledge its physical shape. Not in Sanathan dharma, it always follows the right as it evolves, unlike in other religions like Islam even now scolars like dr zakir naik can’t acknowledge earth as spherical because that will void his trust on Quran/Hadit/Sunnah the moment he has fraction of doubt init, he is no more a true Islamist. 🙂

so the Khurshed or the educated mob you referring are not idiots but you are surely trying to expose your idiotic rant 🙂

    • **Might have to give this a miss**

  12. Of the very few articles online that speak about the fallacies of Indian tradition in one complete package, I find yours compellingly closer to the truth. Without such a package as a religion, all moral codes of a society are defunct. Being a brahmin myself, I brace your argument, not in the light of morality, but rationality. If I’m right in calling you an Atheist, we, my dear comrade, share a common interest in logic and reasoning. Do not bother yourself with this myriad of preposterously appalling comments. You’re just one small Atheist in a wide world of believers who are as determined to disrespect a Nastika as they are in believing that Indian scriptures are the only logical exposition in the world. You better ignore the Chauvinists and bring the agnostics to the realm of logic and reasoning.
